DIY Hime Flower Crown/Heaband

Today's post is awesome because it was a request :)
Monica made a suggestion for a flower crown, and I thought it would be something that I would be able to do. Stay tuned ^^~
You will need:
  • Garden wire
  • A material that wont clash with your flower colors
  • Flowers with individual "stems"
  • 1/4" ribbon in a color that matches your theme
  • Hot glue

When I said that you will need flowers with individual stems, this is what I meant. Each flower is separate.

Use wire cutters to cut a piece of the garden wire to your desired length. Just a tip: Smaller crowns often look a bit cuter :)
Then, cut a strip of fabric (1"-2" wide). You can use one looong strip or several strips of medium lengths. It doesn't really matter...I promise ^^

Bend your wire into a relatively circular shape.

Wrap your material around the wire, and use a bit of hot glue every few wraps.

Wrap the stem of a single flower around the band of the crown.
Repeat this step while starting a pattern that will be maintained throughout the headband.

Lastly, tightly wrap your ribbon around the "stems" of the flowers, using hot glue to secure.

Now you're done ^^ Enjoy your crown~

NOTD: Magic Sparkle Ribbon

I love using sparkles in nail art. I think that nails are the best place to incorporate sparkles and glitter into one's appearance. It's just so subtle and pretty ^^

Colors Used:

  • China Glaze - Inner Beauty
  • L.A. Colors - (No color name...the sparkly one =P )

DIY Usamimi / Usagi Headbands

I've been obsessed with usamimi headbands ever since I saw Xiaxue wearing one in her guide to life. I've purchased some from Bodyline in the past, but they really don't have much variety.
I have 3 from Bodyline

I figured that they would be easy enough to make on my own, so I tried it out~

You will need:
  • Floral wire (31")
  • Wire cutters
  • A pretty material (32" x 5") The only suggestion that I have regarding this is to make sure that your material is opaque... unless you want your wire color to show through (like mine T_T)
  • E6000 glue (or whatever you prefer)
  • Hot glue
  • Lace/Ribbon trim

1. Fold your material in half lengthwise, and cut the ends diagonally.
2. Use hot glue to place and secure your wire in the center fold of your material, then secure the ends of the wire with E6000 glue.

3. Fold the material in half and secure the edges with lace trimming and hot glue.

That's.....pretty much it ._. But since you've used your own material, you can make other matchy-matchy accessories to go with it.

Anyhow, have fun ^^

Simple Hime Gyaru Bow

Hair accessories are my favorite kind of accessory to make. I rarely venture outside of this realm with the exception of decoden (which I love, but I only do so often.) I pretty much make new hair accessories every week, and here's what I made this week:

Stay tuned for the tutorial ^^~

Step 1. Gather the material that you would like to use while making your bow and cut it into a rectangular shape. (Mine pictured is about 4" x 10" for reference) It doesn't have to be perfectly even, I promise ^^

Fold and glue both sides towards the center (I just used a hot glue gun). You can trim the edges to make them match up here if you'd like, but it really is not necessary.

Gather a roll of pretty ribbon.

Use the ribbon to close off the open edges of the material.

Use your fingers to make several cinches in the center of the rectangle and use hot glue to hold in place. Be careful of burning yourself! There's probably a better way to do this, but I probably haven't thought about it hard enough >_>

I also used a different ribbon  in the center to make it a bit more interesting.

From here, anything else is optional. You can quit now and leave things pretty simple or....

Add lace, ribbon, or flowers like I did. I also continued on to make another more plain bow. You can leave your bow as-is and use it for clothing or decoration, or use a clip to turn it into a hair accessory (like I did).

Whatever you do with it, just enjoy ^_^.
