Tutorial GIGANTIC Bow Necklace (Hime-fy any outfit!)

Hey guys!

I've wanted to make this tutorial for a long time, but I hadn't had the motivation necessary to DIY anything T_T. Today, however, I was feeling especially guilty about my long hiatus and lack of tutorials, so I figured I owed it to you guys to make this :)

Those of you who pay lots of attention to hime clothing may have taken notice of the gigantic bows present on the chest of almost every dress out there.

Exhibit A
As someone who wears mainstream clothing in public, owning such an OTT and elaborate dress would be hard to justify (considering that I only put on my "pretty things" to stare at myself in the mirror for a little while before taking off xD).

I figured that I'd be better off just making removable bows that I can wear over normal clothing and pretend that I'm wearing authentic hime gyaru clothing brands. If you're interested in finding out how I made mine, look on!

This starts off rather simply. Just like when we make little bows, we'll need a piece of fabric that is double the size that we'd like our eventual bow. In this case, that means super extra gigantically huge ^^.

Fold over the raw edges and secure with hot glue.

Fold ends towards the center and secure with hot glue.

Use a teensy ribbon to cinch the center of the rectangle, creating a bow.

Cut a strip of fabric double the width that you'd like your eventual bow tails to be, fold in half, and cut one of the ends at an angle. Repeat for second tail.

Add a centerpiece bow to the middle of your large original bow and play with the positioning of your bow tails. After you're happy with them, secure with hot glue or fabric glue.

Line edges with lace trim.

Attach two strips of fabric (securing left and right sides only) to the back of your bow.
Lastly, loop bead string through fabric strips.

You're done!

Hopefully you guys enjoyed this tutorial ^^

♥ DIY Sweet Editorial Lashes & My NOTD ♥

Before we get into this, let me just say that I completely understand and deserve your judgement for even bothering to post such a simple tutorial that you could have figured out on your own with a simple inspiration photo x)

In fact, my inspiration came from this tumblr post.

That's all I wanted to address ^^~
Let's get started!

You will need:
  • a long, lush pair of lashes
  • ribbon in a color of your choosing
  • flatback pearls or rhinestones
  • tacky glue

Start by tying your ribbon into a simple bow. From there, pull the ends of the bow until it's teensy.

Repeat. Lay both of your bows flat and iron them on a low setting.

Retrieve lashes and other decorations of choice. I decided on these pink nail decoration pearls~

Retrieve tacky glue and (perhaps) nail decoration tweezers. I found these useful because I'm terribly clumsy, but most people have hands that are more graceful than my own x)

Spread a little bit of tacky glue across the top of the back of your bow.

Place on the center left if you're decorating the left lash, or the center right if you're decorating the right lash. Do the same for the flatback pearl, but place it on the very outer edge.

Done!

Here are my nails from last week, since I thought they turned out really well:

The photos were taken after 4 days of wear, so please excuse the chips T_T.

This was my attempt of this Cynful Nails nail design:

Not bad eh?
Hers are obviously better, but this was my first time actually trying to copy a nail design. I have obnoxiously tiny hands and nails, so it's kind of hard to translate another person's design onto my own fingernails T_T.

That's all for now, see you guys next time ;)

Pearl! If not DIY-ing, what have you been up to?

Well, I guess I can't say that I haven't been DIYing...I just haven't tried many new things.

This is just going to be a post of me showing off the things I've been making lately, since it's not like I make REAL blog posts anymore x).

Tutorial here!

I've been making quite a few lollipop necklaces lately.

It's because when the clay goes on sale, my lack of control takes over, and I end up with a million packs of clay that I just can't wait to use.

These make fantastic gifts, and I recently decided that I need to stock up on "emergency gifts," so I made lots :).

Bows! Lots and lots of bows.
I don't wear them, but they look so pretty that I can't help but make them x)

More clay things~
I gave them to my teachers last week ^^

Lastly, pins.
Unlike most of the things that I make, I actually wear these ^^.

They're great for those times when I'm wearing a boring outfit and want to make it a little more special.

So....yeah.

The main reason I haven't been posting anything substantive is that school devours any and all of my free time. As you can tell by the photos above (ughhh....nighttime indoor lighting >=/), the only real time I have to myself is late at night.

Problem is, I HATE the way my photos turn out when taken at night (the ones for this post are literally making me cringe, lol), and I just end up skipping weeks of posting.

Those are just some of my excuses.

Oh well, until next time my dears ^^~
