♥ DIY Sweet Editorial Lashes & My NOTD ♥

Before we get into this, let me just say that I completely understand and deserve your judgement for even bothering to post such a simple tutorial that you could have figured out on your own with a simple inspiration photo x)

In fact, my inspiration came from this tumblr post.

That's all I wanted to address ^^~
Let's get started!

You will need:
  • a long, lush pair of lashes
  • ribbon in a color of your choosing
  • flatback pearls or rhinestones
  • tacky glue

Start by tying your ribbon into a simple bow. From there, pull the ends of the bow until it's teensy.

Repeat. Lay both of your bows flat and iron them on a low setting.

Retrieve lashes and other decorations of choice. I decided on these pink nail decoration pearls~

Retrieve tacky glue and (perhaps) nail decoration tweezers. I found these useful because I'm terribly clumsy, but most people have hands that are more graceful than my own x)

Spread a little bit of tacky glue across the top of the back of your bow.

Place on the center left if you're decorating the left lash, or the center right if you're decorating the right lash. Do the same for the flatback pearl, but place it on the very outer edge.

Done!

Here are my nails from last week, since I thought they turned out really well:

The photos were taken after 4 days of wear, so please excuse the chips T_T.

This was my attempt of this Cynful Nails nail design:

Not bad eh?
Hers are obviously better, but this was my first time actually trying to copy a nail design. I have obnoxiously tiny hands and nails, so it's kind of hard to translate another person's design onto my own fingernails T_T.

That's all for now, see you guys next time ;)

  5. I love your nails - I didn't even distinguish between yours and the insp picture at first! I've been lazier and lazier when it comes to doing mine - on the other hand, I do a lot of house chores and cooking/baking, which is certainly easier with a simple mani. Hehe, don't worry, sometimes even the simplest things don't occur to us - I love these lashes. I just wonder, isn't it risky to have regular glue so close to one's eyes? Though I guess that compared to the plastic from which the lashes were made, a bit of glue can't hurt. XD

    1. 3D nail art would definitely interfere with work if you're concerned about messing them up ><. Perhaps I'll look into some 2D options and share them someday ^^~

I wore the lashes for a day after they were dry, and they weren't a problem at all :)
Of course, you'll definitely want to make sure that they are dry x). I think I'll add that to my post when I have time.

  6. Oh gosh, that's soooo cute! The lashes are adorable, and your nails look wonderful too!
I really wanna try something like that with a pair of lashes, but I have such a strange eyelid shape that i fear the pearl would be in the way when I open my eyes X'D

Thanks for your comment on my blog by the way ♥ It did feel kinda strange actually, because the make up my friend used was very thick and kinda like a dry "paste", so it crept into my wrinkles D: (I felt like an old lady looking at myself in the mirror >_<) But other than that, I enjoy getting my make up done by her :D The brushes feel like a soft massage ^^

    1. Really? You have the stereotypical "doe eyes" that everyone wants. I guess I can kind of see how they might make it difficult >_<

I've only had my makeup done by other people twice (once at bareminerals as they tried to sell me mineral makeup, and once at Sephora as they tried to sell me a host of other products). It always feels strange (especially when you're ticklish).

  7. Waah, the lashes look so cuuuute. * _ * <3 And I never realized how short my nails are until now.. Hahaha. I can't even paint them like that! :( I guess that'll be my next goal. Growing out my nails, hehe!

    1. Thanks Julia!

My nails actually need to be trimmed >_<. Short nails are waaaay cuter if you're into OTT decorations. In my experience, long nails look a little bit tacky when covered in rhinestones and pearls. I actually noticed this when I was going through my old mail designs. At one point (about a year or two ago) I had really long nails, and they looked absolutely terrible with decorations.

You're really talented when it comes to making nail sets anyway ^^. I think this is a better option if your nails are strong enough to handle them. The colors don't chip, the decorations stay put, and they're reusable.

    1. Before I glued them, I tested them by holding them straight out and ensuring that the lashes could hold them on their own without drooping. I had to change my design plan quite a few times to make sure that the pieces were light enough x)

The ribbon part shouldn't be a problem, but you'll want to test the rhinestones/pearl pieces first. You'll also probably want to use a pair of pretty stiff fibers. That's why I used a pretty cheap pair. They tend to be stiffer and stronger (which is why they're so reusable).
